Filling my Day

Dear Homemakers,

It is a warm Friday afternoon here at home. When I woke up this morning and looked at the computer, I thought well I really have nothing to write about! So I figured I better get on to living and I was certain something would happen in my day.

I was right, it started out with errands with Mr. Smith. We went to Home Depot for spikes and items to hold up our growing plants. Two of out tomato plants are looking more like small trees, they are growing so fast! At last count there are 20 green tomatoes and one that is maturing to a nice red.

In the larger bed we decided to give the corn stalks a helping hand. Everything has shot right up  in two weeks.

Our second stop was just for me we went to Hobby Lobby! I picked up some new candle making supplies, charms for the bookmarks I make and two really cute fat quarters of fabric. IMG_0692

I’m very new to  candle making but so far the simple candles I’m making are fairly easy.  A couple of months ago I purchased a soy candle making kit. Since then I have made around 20 candles.  Today I came home and made a batch of lilac scented candles.

I prefer the white/natural color of the soy wax so I haven’t got into dying the wax yet. I would also like to start using essential oils for fragrance. Below are lavender candles I made and added dried lavender buds to.

I plan on making more candles to gift to my Bible study small group in May at our Hospitality Luncheon.

So my nothing to say day turned out full in a good way! There were of course a few chores thrown into the day as well. We have to keep the home running after all and things go much smoother when we don’t get too behind.

One last thing, My offer on the free knitted dishcloth still stands. If you would like one please send your mailing address to

I have one little package ready to go to a sweet reader who contacted me!

Humbly Yours,

Mrs. Smith
